Enjoying Doing Nothing

My Sundays are unfortunately a lot busier than I wish them to be these months. Until I had my last exam May 18th, I will be studying all Sunday, every Sunday. Unlike last Sunday where we woke up late and had a nice brunch, I did study a lot. I finished all of my last topics! Proud of that. Now I have two whole months to prep for the exams. Now it starts to feel real...

But after hours of studying, my back really started to ache. Best quick fix for that? A long hot bath! I had a massage last Tuesday and I really needed that one because I had knots all over my back (and right arm! How weird!). A hot bath is long not as good as a nice sports massage, but this did the trick.

Normally I have to read a book or magazine or will scroll on my phone, but did't do any of that this time around. I just enjoyed being in the hot water with bubbles, doing absolutely nothing. Whenever do I do that? Literally never. Well, maybe when I'm snoozing off by the pool. But the last time I did that, I was in Morocco.

So two months and three weeks (who's even counting?!) to go, and then I will have more time for those sweet nothings. Until then, I will savior those lost half hour on a Sunday.

Dior Make-Up Haul

This past weekend I made little splurge on Dior make-up. I actually only went in for a new eye pallet, but it was too hard to resist buying a new lipstick too.

These are my type of colors. I like brown, natural colors. Great for a day time office look, but easily upgradable to evening wear. Love that the liner is included. And it's very easy to apply as well. I apply the highlighter, number 4, with the tip of my finger for just a little extra spark. Although, it's maybe a little too much glitter for an office look.

Now I either wear a hot red lip, or soft pink/nude. This color is slightly darker than I normally wear. But I wanted to have a lipstick that actually looks like one, and not that it just looks like I'm wearing lipgloss. I have fairly pink lips from myself, so sometimes a balm is all I need. This time I opted for a shade darker than my natural lip color and I love it! When I wear it, it feels like a balm rather than drying out my lips. Plus, because the shade isn't too far off from my own, it's totally kiss proof! ;-)

Favorite Kind Of Weekend

Friday evening with a friend, catching up over finger food and bubbles.

My favorite weekends are spend with great company, good food and good wine. Don't actually mind whether it's spend inside or outside, with these three ingredients, it's a recipe for my favorite kind of weekends. :-)

Some red wine and snacks before dinner.

Did anyone say matching sweatpants? But perfect for a little unwinding before going out.

Instead of a formal sit-down dinner, we opted for some (more) finger food and drinks. This way of eating out is definitely a keeper!

New Kitchen Items

Recently I've been on a cleaning roll. I've been throwing away so much stuff. From my wardrobe alone, I donated 5 bags to the Salvation's Army.
Same for my kitchen. Just so much stuff I've been holding on to for years. I've been living by myself since I was 21 and have been the same Ikea flatware and china ever since. Time for an update!

Villeroy & Boch Oscar flatware. It's so pretty and shine! Great quality as well. Also have white and red wine glasses from this brand.

And also new Villeroy & Boch additions: pans! A stir fry pan and a normal frying pan. Never been more excited about pans then now!

The update I'm most excited about is my new china! It's the most classic china Edme by Wedgwood. I grew up with this china at my dad's and grandmother's house. It still doesn't bore me and it's so classic and beautiful. But also perfect for everyday use. It is pretty expensive, but I see it as an investment for hopefully years and years of use. Also it has endless of options so you can keep expending your collection!

The water glasses were in need of an update as well. Threw out the plain Ikea ones and replaced them with these from Villeroy & Boch. Hmmm... I think I see a pattern here...

Last but not least, whiskey glasses by Dutch brand Libbey! The glasses are so beautiful and heavy. Perfect for an iced drink. :-)

Done (for now) with my kitchen items upgrade. So happy that I made the investment and did this. After all, these are day to day items and they bring me a little joy every time I use them!

What I've Been Up To Lately

You might have noticed I haven't updated as much as I do normally around here and on Instagram. Well I thought I would tell a little bit about what I've been up to.

Remember I told you about exciting things happening in earlier this month? Well, I can tell you now... I've got a new job!! I made a career switch (I was in business before) in the field as wel as a different branche. Doing something completely different, but still using the skills that I already had. Plus, finally my major in Marketing comes in handy. So there you have it, I have a job in Marketing now! Really, couldn't be more excited! Another great thing is that this blog, the one I've been working on for over 5 years, was finally an asset when I applied for this job!

But when I come home from work (and made a stop first at the gym), I still need to study. Luckily for me, I'm in my final year! Exams will be in May and then hopefully if all goes well, I will be graduating this year! Can you believe it, graduating in Marketing while actually having a job in Marketing. Dream come true!

Besides studying, the gym and having a full time job I still want to make time for friends and family and luckily I still have some time left for them! But that means that, some days or weeks, I'll have less time to update the blog.

Don't get me wrong though, I stil LOVE blogging and writing content and making pictures, just don't have a lot of time on my hands. That will all be different after the exams!

Until then, you can still read my updates on this blog and I'll try to update more often. And of course follow me on Instagram for more daily updates!

Dancing Alone

Recently I bought Scandal season 1-5 on DVD. And it was only 37 euro without shipping costs. What a deal right?! Because Scandal stopped airing mid season 3 years ago and I didn't bother downloading more, I finally bought it on DVD. Always loved the show and just have to watch it again. If it's just for Olivia Pope's power quotes and dream outfits. She is, really, my spirit animal.

I started with the 4th episode of season 4 after briefly watching a few episodes from season 3 to refresh my memory. And then she said the above quote while dancing, moments before she was kidnapped that is... But I loved the moment, and I love the quote.

Of course she said it to Jake while actually dancing, but before that she said she would choose Olivia instead of Jake or Fitz. She would chose herself. "I choose me."

Loved that moment. And a little reminder too. Choose yourself first. If someone is making you feel unhappy, choose you. If someone is doubting to dance with you, choose you. You'll be fine dancing alone.

After all... you're a gladiator in a suit.

Hello February

Although 2017 already started one month ago, it still feels like it's a fresh start. A new year full of opportunities.

February 14th might be the day of love to many, for me this whole month will be full of love since I have butterflies in my stomach and I feel on top of the world! No matter what my signs says, to me it feels like it's going to be a great year!

The coming months I will be booked with exam prepping only. I'm most excited to this year's exams coming May since they're -hopefully- the last ones. This means that I will pass my exams and gain my degree this year! Remembering when I climbed Mount Toubkal on August 1st in Morocco last year and when I arrived at the hotel late at night, checking my grades and finding out I passed them all was the second best feeling of that day (and year)! Studying next to my fulltime job can be tiresome, crazy sometimes but mostly, rewarding.

Meanwhile, last week the lock of my bike froze once again so I had to take the tram to the station that morning. And even though I bought two pair of new booties, my toes are still freezing in the morning. So over this weather! Although... It's perfect for studying.

I also decided last weekend that I will make and bring my own lunch to work and save a little money. But mostly I'll do this so that I can keep a little track of what I eat. I'll also add an egg to my breakfast each morning of the work week. Warm and satisfying!

Hope everyone has a great February!
