White And Black Zigzag Dress

This dress came a long, long way. Four weeks ago I was out at a party with a colleague when I saw a woman wearing this dress. I walked to her complimenting on her dress and asking where it was from. She said it was from Steps, a Dutch women's clothing brand. So the next day I looked on the website, but it was sold out. Also in the store! I found another website that sold the dress, but my size was sold out! Four weeks went by and almost every day I visited the website to see if someone has returned this item in my size.
Until a few days ago. It was 7 AM, still in bed and ta daa: the size was there! Of course I placed the order even before I brushed my teeth.

I have received so many compliments and it's such a comfortable, warm fall/winter dress, perfect for the office!

Moral of the story? Never let go of something you really want and keep fighting for it! Lol!! ;-)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate! Even though we don't celebrate it here in the Netherlands, I thought it would be a nice idea to share where I'm grateful for.

I'm thankful for my friend Lindsey. Who has been my solid rock for the past few months, and actually ever since we became very close friends.
These months during summer have been a little rough, but she's been there for me. We had many of the "Snap out of it!" moments as well as endless talking on the phone or on the couch with wine. Without her I would have lost it and she kept my sanity. Love you babe!

Happy Thanksgiving all, enjoy turkey day!!

Beginners Luck

This weekend started off great with some cocktails with a colleague straight from work. After I went home, dressed into a little black dress and heels and got ready for dinner.

We went for dinner at the casino, which had great and beautiful food. For entrĂ©e I had venison from deer with seasonal vegetables. The veggies were so so good!

I never played in the casino before and we played French Roulette. It was so much fun! And easy as well. I think the croupier really makes the game fun. They were so nice and fund and really make sure you have a great time.

We won a couple of times and it was especially fun if I chose the correct number. Before we knew it, it was almost 3 AM!

DE at home: Making My Home Winter Ready

Last Saturday I felt it was time for a little fall/winter make-over for my living room and wanted something new. I went to H&M and bought new gray/white cushion covers and a red checked plaid. Both links are redirecting to the Dutch H&M website as both these styles are not available (yet) in the US.

I have had these gray knitted pillows for a while now and each fall I get them out and put them on my couch.

These striped gray pillows are a great alternative to my spring/summer flowered pillows.

Another easy and non expensive way to make your home winter ready is to add a scented candle.

Bordeaux & Camel Outfit With Oxblood Batchel

I finally got a Batchel in oxblood from The Cambridge Satchel Company!! This was a birthday present for myself which I received from England (handmade there!) a few days after.

Love the oxblood color and I even got it engraved with my initials: W.L.D.. I think it's a beautiful chic business bag, even though you might not think of it for that use first. Essentially it is the perfect classic university bag. So I will definitely use it to carry my books when I'll go to the library!

The bordeaux skirt from Zara (previously worn here) fits with the bag along with the neutral camel pullover (previously worn here) with Buffalo booties (seen here and here).

Chai Tea Latte Recipe

Do you also love Chai Tea Latte but don't want to spend your money all the time at Starbucks? Well... I found a recipe which is just as good!

Ingredients
  • Serves 1
  • 1 Chai Spice black tea bag
  • 1/4 cup boiling water
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • Honey or sugar to taste (opt.)
  • Cinnamon or nutmeg to sprinkle on top (opt.)
Directions

Steep the Chai tea bag in the hot water for 3 to 5 minutes.
Warm milk in a pan, then whisk with a frother. Combine the milk and chai tea and add honey or sugar to taste. Sprinkle with cinnamon or nutmeg.

At work we have a huge coffee making machine which also gives you hot/cold or foamed milk, so great for this recipe! You can heat the milk in the microwave as well.

Enjoy!!

Cozy Fall Date Ideas

Isn't walking through a park on a Sunday afternoon in the fall romantic? The beautiful colors of the trees and warm sunbeams make it hard not to love fall.

Here are some cozy fall date ideas:
  • apple picking: you're outside enjoying nature and after sip some cider to warm up.
  • visit a farmer's market: fall produce is some of my favorite. Great to try out new products and help out local farmers.
  • go on a wine tasting: you're learning something new, while having a good time together.
  • have a stroll on a flea market: you don't even have to buy something to have fun. But I especially love the antique markets, you can find so many beautiful things!
  • find a fire place: if you don't own a big fire place, try to find a restaurant or bar which have one where you can cozy up together.
  • have a game night: either together or with another couple.
  • go on a bike ride: if you're up to something more sportive, try a bike ride. Maybe choose a path along the water or in the park. And bring lunch for a picnic!
  • go on a horseback ride: if you're opting for something not only sportive but also adventurous, try horseback riding! I haven't done it for years but want to do it again!
  • try a new recipe: whether it's home-made soup (my brown bean soup is SO good!) or make an apple cider, it's about working together in the kitchen while staying warm.

Printed White Skirt and Gray Top

I felt so pretty and put together in these clothes! A true outfit for the office that breaks the normal pencil skirt and blouse. The skirt is so soft and I like that the top has long sleeves. Makes it perfect for fall and winter. Also, I think this outfit would be great for a job interview!

Autumn Walk in the Park

This past weekend it was beautiful weather again (just like on my birthday!) with temperatures of 17 degrees C.

On Sunday it was a great day to go out for a walk and take beautiful pictures of course! This perfectly shows, why fall is my favorite season.

It's November!

Can't believe it's November already! And that means, my birthday week is officially over. I loved that my birthday was spread out over a week and two weekends!

This past weekend I had another little birthday celebration surprise, which was just perfect. The weekend was also filled with beautiful fall weather and this shows why I love this season so much. Nice to go out for a walk, but also had to do some studying. Let's say: a lot of studying! Will write an update soon.

Still have to get used to the fact that I'm 26 now. I've heard myself saying so many times this week, but it seems to fit me better as well! Haha!

This week has been filled with new things and firsts as well. Maybe it's because I'm in a new birthday year, it sure does feel good to be 26!
