A Walk In The Woods

Because I live in a big city, I don't see a lot of nature. Sometimes I go in a nearby park to take photo's and there're trees here and there, but that's it. However, we have a beautiful forest at the edge of Rotterdam, but I don't come there enough.
But really, I should. Two weeks ago I had a walk through the woods of Den Haag and it made me happy to see all this nature. Growing up next to the see, makes me miss nature and fresh air.

After the walk we had a beautiful dinner and a nice walk back to the car afterwards.

Outfit Inspiration: Just Like Scandal

I blogged about it yesterday... Scandal is my favorite series at the moment. And character Oliva Pope? Which young woman doesn't look up to her? An independent, strong woman with a great career and her own PR/crisis team firm. And her wardrobe, what's not to love? I swoon over her elegant coats, jackets, trousers, blouses and dresses. And now you can just look like her and feel like a powerful woman, no matter in which business you work! The Limited created a Scandal line which is based on the character of Olivia Pope, played by the beautiful Kerry Washington.
For me, this felt like a dream came true. Head over to The Limited to check out the pieces for yourself!

A Relaxing Weeknight

The past few weeks have been busy and tiring for me. Busy at work, personal life and stressing about a new study. When I'm stressed, my body lets me know I am. I'll get a little acne, have circles under my eyes or I'm super tired all the time. The latter got to me in the past weeks. I haven't been able to sleep well because I was making list in my head, overthinking things or had nightmares where I woke up from. Even though I'm going to bed earlier and try to relax during the weekend, it just doesn't work.

Now something new from my body has occurred. For two weeks now I have a 'twitching' left eye. Super annoying! But luckily it doesn't show from the outside. I looked twitching left eye up on the internet and besides all superstition, it said that it's mostly caused by lack of sleep and stress. Jeez, tell me something new!

So yesterday I came home from work and promised myself a relaxing night. No studying, no any 'musts'. A friend visited early last night for some laughing and catching up. Later I sat on my couch with a blanket and an episode of Scandal. I went to bed early and read some chapters of my book.

It was a truly relaxing weekday night. The twitching isn't over yet, but, this is a good wake up call for me that I should do more relaxing. Even if it's just for a few hours on a weekday.

Happy Fall!

I must admit: I love fall! But not so much this morning on my way to work when it was raining... ;-) Now I can finally wear my new sweaters and cardigans, boots and wear scarfs! Also tea, blankets, Pumpkin Spice Latte's, darker red nail polish, blankets, beautiful colors outside, hiking in the woods and the overall coziness.
I swear, this pullover is blue!
What do you like most about autumn?
Happy fall everyone!

Cognac Blazer and Black Booties

So I've been MIA for a little while... I was sick for a week and a half and even stayed home for a few days from work. The flu is no joke...
I feel much better now, and luckily the weather is great. 25 degrees!
This little time off gave me time to do a lot of thinking and also to come up with creative ideas for the blog.

World Harbor Days Rotterdam

Last weekend it were the World Harbor Days again (aka Fleet week) in Rotterdam. It's such a fun event which revolves around the Rotterdam harbor. So lots of boats, helicopter shows and sailors!

On board of the Karel Doorman

I love this little harbor, which is always like this but on the route: Veerhaven, Rotterdam.

And I hope this video works, or else you can view it on my instagram.

White Blouse and Gray Cardigan

When the weather is slowly getting colder, it's nice just to throw on a cardigan. I love this one from Zara, which I also bought in camel color. It so soft and the jewel buttons makes it from looking dull.
I'm wearing my new Daniel Wellington watch, which I'm talking about here.
And I'm wearing a bun! First time since... forever!
Shoes are from Dune and blouse is from Mango.

Happy September! + An Update

Happy September! I must admit, I'm kind of excited for the coming months. I love fall! A lot of things are scheduled and for me, also some changes.

Yesterday, September 1st while my American readers had a day off, was the first day back to school in our area. It was so cute to see all of these kids with their little bikes, backpacks, lunch boxes and new outfits.

While I'm not in school since years, I do see September/fall as a new beginning. I felt the itch for a change for a while now. For me this expressed as an updated wardrobe (you'll see on the blog soon!), a new Daniel Wellington watch (fell in love) and maybe my biggest physical change: shorter hair and a darker color! I received so many compliments from colleagues, friends and family and I'll never go that blond again! I still have to get used to what I see in the mirror, but I think I look so much better too. ;-)

Last week was such a fun end of the month. It was filled with laughter at work (and even gifts from colleagues, just because!), an unplanned visit from a friend during the week, lots online shopping sprees (as mentioned above), new hairdo and a super fun Saturday night out with cocktails and dancing.

I've already so many fun things planned for this coming month and even more changes! Can't wait what this month/fall holds for me. But for now, summer has returned to the Netherlands which means no more rain and again skirts with bare legs! Yay!
