How To Dodge A Cold

The Bradley's: Inspiration, the cozy sweater, warm kitchen:

The other day I woke up with a sore and thick throat and I was afraid that I was getting a cold. The next day I had an important meeting, so being sick wasn't the option. Below are a few things I did to fight that cold and feel better too:

  • try to eat. When my throat and head hurts, I don't feel like eating. But, I always try to because it does makes me feel better right away. Try yoghurt or oatmeal with a banana for breakfast.

  • stay warm. In bed or on the couch, I'll be in my warmest sweater, under a blanket and with a cup of tea in my hands.

  • take a bath. My muscle will relax more and I feel like I'm sweating out the germs. Plus, it's a total relaxation.

  • go to a spa/sauna. See above, Different saunas and baths have various health benefits. It wouldn't hurt anyone to spend a day in the warmth and heat while it's so cold outside. Also, the eucalyptus works wonders for your stiff nose.

  • drink your vitamins. I love to drink fresh juices or make my own Glowing Green Smoothie for extra and quick vitamins.

  • walk it off. Going outside for a walk always feels good. Bundle up, smell the fresh air and get some vitamin D,

  • take a nap. But only in the early afternoon and no longer then 40 minutes so that you still can sleep at night.

  • chicken soup. Like everybody else, when I'm sick, I'm craving chicken soup. So when I feel like a cold is coming up, I feel like it can do wonders for my body. See a nice recipe here.

  • above all: rest. Try not to do too much and relax as much as you can. If you have to work, try not to do anything else when you're at home. Ditch the gym (germs, loud music) for one day and go to bed one hour sooner.
